What is Cloud Computing?

Cloud Computing is the IT combination of hardware, software and data that is provided as a service over the internet.

In other words, typical technologies such as physical servers, software, and data storage that are traditionally anchored in a company’s IT department are transferred to a virtual location.  Cloud Computing service providers operate huge infrastructures and storage capabilities online

SHORTFALLS OF CLOUD COMPUTING

1.Security
*Data and software is not physically located on company premise but accessed via internet
*Putting an innate trust in service providers in terms of protecting data and preventing data breaches
*Potential for hackers, virus and other malicious agents to access data

2.Privacy
*Service providers could, hypothetically speaking, tap into data stored on their servers thus violating client and business privacy

3.Accessibility
*A connection to the internet is vital to its basic function - if network is down, business cannot function
